A WAREHOUSE on the Wirral Waters site has become temporary operations HQ for a charity helping disadvantaged children across Eastern Europe this Christmas.

The building, on Woodside Business Park has been provided to Peel Land and Property to help Teams4U collect donations for its annual Wirral shoebox appeal.

The charity was set up in 2006 by Dave Cooke, from Wrexham. He founded the shoebox gift concept in 1990, when he provided aid to Romanian orphanages.

Through its appeal, Teams4U collects and distributes gift-filled Christmas shoeboxes across Eastern Europe and, last year, distributed over 38,000 shoeboxes to Belarus, Bosnia, Ukraine and Romania.

The charity works with local people in these countries all year round to help improve the quality of their lives.

To drop off a shoebox or get involved in processing the gift-filled shoeboxes, go along to Unit 76 on the Woodside Business Park any weekday, between 10am and 3pm, until a week on Friday, November 30.

Dave Cooke said: "We’re delighted that Peel has provided their warehouse for our Christmas shoebox appeal this year.

"It will mean we are able to process a large number of shoeboxes in time for Christmas.

"Please drop your shoeboxes in to Woodside Business Park or even stick around and help us out with this wonderful appeal."ON

Nicola Dearden, property manager for Peel L&P, said: "The Wirral shoebox team does a fantastic job and helps so many children at Christmas time so we're delighted to be able to support them this year.”

Woodside Business Park is within 300 metres of Hamilton Square train station and just 100 metres of Woodside Ferry Terminal.
