WIRRAL residents are being urged to help spread festive cheer by creating a shoebox for elderly people who will spend Christmas Day in a hospital bed.
Ableworld will team up with the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital to help make Christmas Day special for pensioners in hospital.
Around 1,000 pensioners will spend the day in a hospital bed without close family members visiting them, so now the team at Ableworld are appealing to the public to put together a shoebox filled with small things that we all may take for granted such as puzzle books, hot chocolate, biscuits, warm socks, globes, slippers, hats, soups, sweets, pens and toiletries - but no alcohol.
The shoeboxes can be taken to Birkenhead's Ableworld store before December 17.
Ableworld have been involved in a similar initiative for the last two years and have collected more than 100 shoeboxes each time.
