LABOUR councillors hoping to stand in the all-out elections in 2020 have two weeks to put their names forward.
The process to select candidates for the elections is being managed by the party’s regional office.
Councillors have been sent application forms, which need to be filled out if they wish to be considered to be put before the panel.
The closing date for nominations is November 30.
All councillors who wish to stand will have to go through an interview – these will be carried out on the weekend of December 8 and 9 at the regional office.
Application forms are also going out to all party members in the town, with interviews for those hoping to stand due to take place after Christmas.
The shortlisting and selections event will be held – all in one day – in May next year.
A Labour source says councillors are expecting a ‘tough’ vetting process, which is due to cover their campaign record and attendance.
The party’s controversial selections ahead of the all-out elections in 2016 saw six councillors axed.
But it sparked uproar among members, with mistakes by officials partly blamed for selection casualties.
