TRAIN passengers faced lengthy delays earlier this afternoon after two level crossing failures on the Wirral line.
Merseyrail confirmed that there were delays to the West Kirby line services due to level crossing failures at both Leasowe and Hoylake.
Services resumed at 4.45pm however some services are expected to run up to 10 minutes late.
Network Rail engineers were at the scene to fix the issue.
Trains from Liverpool Central to West Kirby also faced cancellations.
Passengers were urged to board New Brighton services and change at Birkenhead North station.
Services have now resumed on the West Kirby line, but some services are expected to run up to 10 minutes late.
