WITH an upcoming increase of the police precept for ratepayers and no increase in the number of police officers, I think it's time to ask the question: "Do we really need a Police Crime Commissioner?"
What positive effect does this post offer to the safety on our streets?
We certainly don't appear to be getting value for money from this "news spokesperson" and the combined salaries of both the commissioner and the assistant commissioner (£116,800) could be better used employing more frontline police officers.
