A MUM and daughter have been fined after a fight outside a town centre nightclub.

Mandy Miller-Atherton and Amanda Atherton, from Bewsey, both admitted threatening behaviour at Warrington Magistrates Court on Thursday, November 8, following the incident outside PJs on Bridge Street.

Atherton, 23, also admitted assaulting a police officer and breaching a conditional discharge previously handed down to her by the court in May for a separate assault.

The court heard that police officers were called to the scene in the early hours of Friday, October 19, after receiving reports of three women fighting in the street.

Miller-Atherton and Atherton, of Longshaw Street, had been on a night out together and had visited several pubs before going to PJs.

During the course of the evening, Atherton began being sick outside the nightclub – with her 44-year-old mum believing that her daughter’s drink had been spiked.

A doctor was present at the scene and was assisting Atherton, but a third women – Kelly Forber – ‘kept trying to butt in’ claiming she was a qualified nurse.

The 39-year-old and mum-of-four Miller-Atherton began ‘scuffling’, with both throwing punches and the latter being bitten on the face during the altercation.

Atherton was taken to Warrington Hospital by ambulance after officers found her lying in the road ‘extremely intoxicated’, but the Amazon warehouse worker refused to respond to question from nurses and became agitated when the police intervened.

Described as being ‘aggressive and abusive’ to the officers, she began kicking out at them – catching PC Ryan Cunliffe on the shin and right arm.

Police had to use incapacitant spray on Atherton to restrain her.

She was fined a total of £250 by magistrates – who also ordered her to pay court costs of £85, compensation of £50 to the police officer and a victim surcharge of £30.

Miller-Atherton, who has no previous convictions, was given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay court costs of £85 plus a £20 victim surcharge.

Forber, of Lathan Avenue in Newton-le-Willows, is due to appear before the same court later this month charged with threatening behaviour.

A spokesman for PJs confirmed that the incident did not happen inside the club.
