DETECTIVES are appealing for information after callous burglars stole cash and unplugged fridges at an Eastham pub.

Merseyside Police received a report that between 10.30pm on Tuesday, November 6 and 9.30am on Wednesday, November 7 that someone had forced entry to the back of The Montgomery pub on Stanley Lane.

The thieves stole cash and attempted to break into the till.

They even unplugged the fridges causing hundreds of pounds worth of food waste while turning on the grill and oven.

Forensic and CCTV enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is being urged to come forward.

Detective inspector Laura Lamping said: "This was a disgraceful incident in which the businesses owners will now face the stress and inconvenience of repairing the damage caused.

"To unplug the fridges is callous and has caused further loss to the victims.

"We understand the impact that burglary from businesses and home can and does have, and we remain committed to investigating these offences, identifying those responsible and putting them before the courts.

"If you saw anyone acting suspiciously close to this location on Tuesday night or the early hours of Wednesday morning, let us know and we will take positive action."
