A WIRRAL taxi company is to set create 200 jobs in Ellesmere Port and Neston following an expansion of the business.

Argyle Satellite Taxis' £100,000 investment is part of a wider strategy which, it says, aims to boost the local economy and support local businesses.

The firm has approximately 700 self-employed drivers completing more than 55,000 journeys every week throughout Wirral, Cheshire and Merseyside.

After increased demand for service in the Cheshire towns over the past eighteen months, the business applied for and were recently granted a private hire operator's licence from Cheshire West & Chester Council.

The decision to apply for the licence was made to ensure that Argyle Satellite Taxis could provide customers with local drivers with greater knowledge of the area.

Chris Jordan Argyle Satellite's chief executive, said: "There is no doubt that this exciting opportunity not only benefits Argyle Satellite, but also creates potential employment across the borough for other businesses"
