A REMEMBRANCE service will be held at St John the Baptist Church in Meols this Friday (November 9).

Starting at midday, it will be attended by Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr Geoffrey and Anne Watt.

There will be sandwich and cake Lunch in Church Centre.

Ken Pye will give a talk in Church, entitled Trenches, Torpedoes, Bunkers and Bullets. It starts at 2.15pm.

Admission is free, but donations can be made on the day to British Legion and Friends of Grange Hill War Memorial.

A display of knitted poppies will be on view to visitors.

Rock and roll

MIKE Byrne and the Sunrockers are back at Heswall British Legion in Pensby Road, Heswall tonight (Wednesday).

It promises to be another great night of Rock n Roll.

Art exhibition

IRBY Artists' art and crafts exhibition will be held at St Chad’s Church Hall in Roslin Road, Irby this Saturday (November 10) from 10am-5pm.

Admission is free.

Book Sale

FRIENDS of Greasby Library and Library Volunteers are holding a book sale in the library on Tuesday (November) 13 from 10am - midday.
Funds raised will be used to benefit the library.

Lunch club

IRBY Lunch Club meets at Irby Methodist church every Friday.

Taking place at the venue in Mill Hill Road, sessions start 1pm.

Admission is £2.50. 

Church heritage

ST Nicholas Church in Wallasey will throw open its doors for a heritage weekend this Saturday and Sunday (November 10 and 11).

The church, in Harrison Drive, will be open on Saturday from 10am-3pm.

There will be plaques around the church depicting the names of the fallen who lived in the parish.

There will also be perspex silhouettes of soldiers of the great war around the church.

There will also be a cascade of poppies from the alter cascading to the central aisle.

On Sunday, there will be two remembrance services; one at 9am, the other at 10am.

Garden society

RAY Bailey will give an illustrated talk entitled My concrete garden as Hoylake & District Gardening Society's guest when it meets next Thursday, November 15.

Taking place at St Michael & All Angels Church Centre, Newton, it starts at 7.30pm.

Admission is free for members and visitors are very welcome at £2, including refreshments.

It will be the group's last meeting of the year.

Charity concert

A CONCERT featuring Wirral Singers and Ringers will be held at St Michael’s Church Hall in Gills Lane, Pensby on Friday, November 30.

It starts at 7.30pm, in aid of Wirral Fund for Children with Special Needs. Tickets, £8, from Bob on 342 3570 and Mervyn 342 3410.

Reunion

CALLING all former pupils of Wirral Grammar Boys School, Year Group 1960-1965 ... a reunion is planned for next year.

A spokesman for the organisers said: "We are celebrating our 70th birthdays over the next year and a group of us thought why not do it in style.

"If you were in any of the Houses, Dodds, Hodgeson, Lever, and Barber you are invited to a Reunion to be held on a Saturday in Spring next year. This will entail a reception and slap up meal or buffet on the Wirral.

"For those coming from afar we hope to have other activities over the weekend.

Autumn fair

ST Hilary's Church in Claremount Road, Wallasey holds its Autumn Fair on November 17 from 10.30am-1.30pm.  Admission is £1 for adults and children are free.

Lots of stalls including Cakes, Crafts, Tombola, Bric-a-Brac and a Raffle.  There is also the opportunity to have a look at our bell tower and have a go at ringing our bells.  

Included in the fair will be Nibbles at Noon, St. Hilary's Afternoon Tea which includes sandwiches, cakes, scone and a drink, which is being served from 11.45am-1pm. 

It's £5 for adults and £3 Children. Tickets are available on the day.

MSA group

THE Multiple Systems Atrophy (MSA) support group for Wirral, North Wales and West Cheshire will meet in the church hall at St John’s Church, Birkenhead Road, Meols on November 21.
