I WOULD imagine the news that Phil Davies is standing down next year will be very welcome in some quarters, particularly Wirral motorists.

He has done a lot of damage, in the past few years, with his relentless attacks on drivers at any opportunity.

He has installed parking meters around the borough resulting in shopkeepers and traders losing revenues and summer day trippers.

Having to fork out parking fees due to his neglect of Wirral's roads has lead to ever increasing potholes appearing which cause damage to cars.

I also hope that his pet project "white elephant" Hoylake golf course AKA Phil's Folly doesn't happen and that his eventual successor can reverse some of these reckless policies.
