A DRINK-DRIVING woman from Ellesmere Port crashed her car into a resident's garden then tried to run away, Chester Magistrates Court heard on Monday.

Donna McGreavy, 55, of Westenra Avenue, was behind the wheel of her Nissan Qashqai on October 6 at about 5.30pm when the incident occurred.

She pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and the case was adjourned for a probation report to be compiled.

Prosecuting, Adam Warner said a witness on Westenra Avenue had parked up at their house and heard what sounded like an explosion.

They went over and saw a car had driven through a neighbour's fence, and the driver was moving the car backwards and forwards in an attempt to get out.

The car had two passengers including a young child, the court heard.

The witness approached the car and the driver – McGreavy – got out and tried to run off, shouting: "I can't believe this."

McGreavy then returned to the car and police attended.

Officers noted her speech was slurred and her eyes were glazed over.

She said she had drunk two pints prior to the accident and a swig of Stella afterwards.

McGreavy was breath tested and blew 100 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath – nearly three times the legal limit of 35.

The case was adjourned until November 15. Deputy District Judge Andrew Jebb handed McGreavy an interim driving ban and released her on unconditional bail.
