IDENTITY checks on the body of a man found in the canal in Chester on Monday night have been carried out by police.
The force has identified the man as 37-year-old Danny Jones.
His death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.
His address was not revealed but police confirmed he was not born in Chester.
Officers were called to Cow Lane Bridge, which runs over the canal near Frodsham Street, at around 6.20pm on Monday, October 15.
They cordoned the area off amid reports that a body had been spotted in the water.
A specialist underwater team recovered the body of a man and diversions were put in place.
A police spokesman said: "Officers are working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the death and further details will be provided when they become available."
