A MAN from Tranmere has been arrested after threatening a neighbour with a machete.
Merseyside Police were called at around 1pm on Tuesday, October 16 following reports that a man had threatened a neighbour with a machete in Pembroke Court, Old Chester Road.
After a search of a property in Pembroke Court, police seized a bolt-action rifle and other weapons.
Officers arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of a Section 1 firearm, affray and possession of controlled drugs.
He has been taken to a police station for questioning.
Detective inspector Mike Dalton said: "This arrest and seizure means less weapons on the streets of Merseyside, which are used to cause fear and harm in our communities.
"Thankfully, firearms are seldom seen in Wirral but we will act on all information provided to remove them and the people who choose to store and use them, to ensure your streets are safe from the menace of gun crime.
"You can provide information directly to police, or anonymously via Crimestoppers, which is completely independent of police."
Anyone with information on gun crime and the storage of weapons is asked to contact Merseyside Police on social media via @MerPolCC, call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
