MERSEYSIDE'S LMA Choir are through to the X Factor live shows.

The 15 singers, three of which are from Wirral, won groups mentor Robbie Williams over during the judges houses stage of the singing contest.

On Saturday's show, comedian David Walliams helped Robbie decide which of his groups should go through to the next stage.

After being flown out to Robbie and wife Ayda's home in Beverly Hills, the LMA Choir sang James Bay's Hold Back The River.

When putting them through, Robbie said to LMA Choir: "I love your energy and talent.

"There's something awesome about the soul of you on mass."

One of the members, Cameron Povall, 21, from Woodchurch told the Globe about his experience: "We were there dipping a toe in the pool. We had a barbecue. We had a game of tennis – in which I actually managed to beat him! I don’t know how, as I’ve never played before in my life.”

Other Wirral members include Andrew Morris from Bromborough and Jessica Mahoney from Moreton.

The 15-strong choir first wowed judges with their energetic rendition of This is Me from The Greatest Showman at The SSE Arena, Wembley.

Now the group down to the final four in their category and are preparing to win the support of the voting public in the live shows.

Choir founder Stephanie Wallace Carr said: “It was absolutely hands down the best experience of our lives. I think I can say that for myself and the whole choir. It was unbelievable.

“Robbie’s house is just breathtaking. Getting to meet him, more on a personal level, at his house was just an honour. And being able to perform in such a setting was phenomenal.

"All I can say is we’re going to go and absolutely give it our all.

"We’re going to try 150 million per cent every day that we’re there. We’re so humbled, honoured – we’re grateful to be there.

“All the other acts are absolutely outstanding as well, as you can see. So I do think it’s anybody’s.

"But I can say you’re in for an amazing treat.”

Joining LMA Choir in the groups category for the live shows will be Misunderstood, A Star and Vibe 5.

The X Factor live shows will air from Saturday, October 20 on ITV.
