POLICE are appealing to trace a 28-year-old man after an off-duty police officer was injured in Upton.
Officers believe that Peter Richard Rutter, from Leasowe, has information about an incident in McColls on Manor Drive at around 9.55pm on Wednesday, August 22.
During the incident an off-duty police officer was injured as he attempted to help staff detain a shoplifter.
Rutter is white, 5ft 9in, of slim build with light brown hair and blue eyes.
