ARMED police officers and a police negotiator were involved in a three-hour stand-off with a man holding a knife in Bebington last night.
Police were called to the house in Ferns Road at around 9pm and formed an armed containment on the property.
The negotiations went on for around three hours until a 27-year-old man was arrested shortly after midnight.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that officers arrested a man in the Bebington area of Wirral last night (Friday 12 October) following an armed containment on a property.
"At around 9pm, a call was received reporting that a man was seen in Ferns Road in possession of a knife.
"No persons were reported injured but officers including armed officers attended. The man was contained in a house and a negotiator was called.
"Shortly after midnight, a 27-year-old man from Old Swan was arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article, affray and criminal damage. He was taken to a police station for questioning and remains in custody."
