A HISTORIC Grade II listed building, now running as the Leverhulme Hotel, will turn 111-years-old in November.
Opened by Lady Lever on November 1, 1907, the building originally housed the Cottage Hospital for Port Sunlight Village.
The Cottage Hospital was created as part of Lord Leverhulme's estate designed to provide the 'very best' social facilities for his workforce and their families.
As part of Port Sunlight's Heritage open day on September 14 more than 100 visitors turned up to the hotel and were treated to a short-guided tour of the building.
To celebrate the milestone staff dressed up in uniforms similar to those worn by the Cottage Hospital back in 1907.
Food and beverage manager Sheridan Green even recreated a famous Edwardian picture of a Matron on a bicycle at the front of the building.
Leverhulme Hotel is also running a monthly guided history tour with refreshments followed by afternoon tea at its Riviera restaurant.
The tour includes information about the building and area and how it is linked to two of the region’s most influential families who helped put Port Sunlight on the world map.
