FRIDAY night football sessions for young people will start at the Oval Leisure Centre in Bebington next week.

Funded by Mid Wirral Crime Prevention Panel, the sessions start on September 14 from 6.30pm-8.30pm.

Aimed at boys and girls aged 12-19, they are a chance for young people to turn up with their friends and play small sided games and tournaments on 3G pitches - for free.

There's no need to book. Players wanting to get involved can just turn up – on their own or with friends.

Wirral Council's Sports Development Team helps young people access physical, healthy activities and will be leading the sessions supported by FA qualified coaches.

Cllr Phillip Brightmore, Wirral's cabinet member for Leisure and Recreation said: "Maintaining free activities such as these regular, football sessions is a priority for the council.

"They will enable Wirral's young people to increase their involvement in healthy and safe activities and improve the long-term wellbeing of future generations."
