A WIRRAL great grandmother is celebrating her 100th birthday.
Born in Carlisle on September 3, 1918, Irene Bailey now lives in Upton.
Today she will celebrate her birthday with friends and family around her - including her four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Following World War II, Irene married Bernard ‘Bill’ Bailey and after he left the Royal Navy both moved to Wirral to start their life together.
In 1951, she became mum to identical twin daughters Irene and Elizabeth before working as a receptionist at Upton Group Practice.
After the sad passing of her husband in 1990, Irene dedicated her time volunteering at a local charity shop.
