TWO Wirral artists have their art in their right Place on New Brighton promenade

A bright new installation of commemorative artworks of local history and familiar landmarks - including the lighthouse and Mother Redcap's - which were unveiled last week on the Rotunda building at Victoria Park.

The initiative was sponsored by United Utilities and local community champions Rose and Carl Leckey.

The eye-catching, colourful creations were produced by aspiring artist Megan Callister, aged 15, and local retired Wallasey artist Fred Biddulph a freelance video-maker.

Fred is a time-served sign-writer and has painted wall murals since the age of 15.

Megan is a Year 10 pupil at St. John Plessington Catholic College.

This the first time one of her designs has been publicly produced and she is thrilled.

She told the Globe: "I am completely taken aback but very happy."

The project was the latest in a series of community arts from New Brighton-based MAP - Momentary Arts Project - who are keen to brighten up the environment.

Director Carl Leckey said: "This is a really spectacular exhibition of Wirral talent and art."

And the resort was also alive with the sound of music.

Local musician Ian Heath performed his new song called When New Brighton was Mine for the ceremony, which was attended by local residents in the current heatwave.
