POLICE have launched a CCTV appeal after teenager was hit in the face with a glass at a Heswall bar in May.

At around 12.20am on May 12 a report was received that an 18-year-old man had been struck by a glass on the dancefloor of Paradox on Pensby Road.

The teen suffered a deep cut to his lip and chin during the incident.

He was taken to hospital for stitches.

Officers have now released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to as he may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Detective inspector Brian O'Hagan said: "This was a shocking incident, and the offender who struck the victim caused him a very deep laceration to his lip.

"We want to speak to the man pictured as we think he may be able to assist the enquiry so I would encourage him, or anyone who recognises himself, to make himself known.

"We make consistent efforts alongside partners to ensure Wirral is a safe place to work, visit and socialise and I can assure people that will act on all information to identify those responsible and put them before the courts."

Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious is asked to contact Merseyside Police social media desk via Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook Merseyside Police CC.
