POLICE have launched a murder investigation after a 52-year-old man died in Ellesmere Port.

Emergency services were called at around 12.30am today (Thursday, June 14) to a house on Seymour Drive after reports of an incident.

Once at the scene a man was discovered with serious injuries.

He was taken to the Countess of Chester hospital by paramedics but sadly died a short time later.

His next of kin have been informed and are currently being supported by specialist officers.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

Detective inspector Paul Hughes said: "I would like to reassure the local community that at the current time this appears to be an isolated incident.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of what happened and a 27-year-old man was arrested at the scene in relation to the incident.

"He is currently being held on suspicion of murder.”
