A MAN has been taken to hospital after being struck by a train between Meols and Moreton.

Emergency services were called to the Carr Lane level crossing at 10.12pm following reports a person had been struck by a train.

Paramedics on scene assessed a man who was then taken to hospital.

His injuries are not believed to be serious.

British Transport Police say the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

Merseyrail service were at a standstill for around one hour and replacement buses were running between Birkenhead North and West Kirby.
