A MAN has been charged following an early morning police car chase across Wirral.

Merseyside Police were called at around 1am yesterday (Wednesday) after a Red Mitsubishi car failed to stop for patrols on A41 at Eastham Rake.

The car was then chased by officers along with a helicopter from the National Police Air Service before it crashed into other cars on Twickenham Drive, Leasowe.

No-one was injured.

A man then ran from the scene but was arrested a shirt time after in the garden of Shackleton Road after making threats towards officers.

Simon McCormick, 28, of Manor Drive, Liscard was charged with dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, using threatening and abuse words with intent, and making off without payment.

The latter offence relates to making off without payment from Murco Service Station on Liscard Road, Egremont on Tuesday morning, 10 April.

McCormick will appear this morning (Thursday) at Wirral Adult Remand Court.
