A PARK in Neston is set for a transformation with a new play area and landscaping.

Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC), Neston Town Council and partners have secured funding to improve Sytchcroft Park, now recently supported by additional funding from Adactus Housing.

The funding will now be spent on a new play area, multi-use games area, extra footpaths and wider landscaping on the site.

CCTV and lighting improvements will be installed on the existing cycle path through the site to Neston Station.

This approach has been supported by Cheshire Police and the council’s highways team.

Engagement will also take place with Neston High School and Neston Primary School to draw up and implement a community art project for the site. This could be an entrance feature, signage, or ‘daily mile’ markers.

Maria Byrne, the CWaC's director of place operations, said: “I am proud of the achievements of the partnership between the council, Neston Town Council and supporting stakeholders.

“On behalf of the partnership, I am delighted to report the fantastic response to the call to improve this area of Neston.

"We have secured significant funding from a variety of contributors to make a real difference to the park.

“We will now work together to deliver the plan and we are excited at the prospect of a revamped community space this coming autumn.”

CWaC and Neston Town Council carried out a public consultation in 2016 and 2017, presenting ideas on how to improve the whole Sytchcroft site, with widespread community support for improving the site.

The views and ideas of the community have been incorporated into the final design.

A contractor will be appointed over the coming months and the scheme is scheduled to be delivered on site this autumn.
