A MAN who threatened a family with a knife and stole their car from their Prenton home is being hunted by police.

Merseyside Police are appealing for witnesses following the aggravated burglary at the house on Wharfedale Avenue shortly after midnight on Friday, August 18.

The man entered the home armed with a knife before threatening a woman and children and stealing a Range Rover Evoque.

It is believed the raider could have been dropped off in a silver car which was seen nearby at the time of the incident.

The occupants of the house were unhurt but left extremely shaken by the incident.

An investigation is currently underway and house-to-house and forensic enquiries are ongoing.

Detective inspector Paul Parry said: "This was obviously a very traumatic experience for the family and they were left very shaken by their ordeal.

"I want to reassure members of the public that a thorough investigation is underway and we are committed to finding the person responsible for this and bringing them to justice.

"I would appeal for anyone who may have seen the Range Rover parked and looking out of place, or was in the area of Wharfedale Avenue on the evening of August 17 and early hours of August 18 to cast their minds back and think if they may have seen anyone acting suspiciously.

"We would ask anyone who has any information which could assist the investigation to get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 0151 777 2246 or the Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
