A GROUP of young fundraisers are hoping to raise £1,000 to help rebuild a suite at Arrowe Park Hospital in memory of a baby who was stillborn.

The blue group from Harrison Day Nursery in Wallasey will be completing the sponsored walk on Sunday, August 13 to raise cash to help the Butterfly Suite fund in memory of Nursery Key Worker Becky Maltman's daughter Sofia-Anne.

Becky gave birth to her stillborn daughter Sofia-Anne in September last year.

Now a group of around 50 parents and children will walk from Derby Pool to Vale Park to show their support for Becky and Sofia-Anne while raising cash for a good casue.

One of the organisers, Katherine Holley told the Globe: “We are raising money in celebration of Sofia-Anne who was born sleeping in September.

“Her brave mum Becky looks after our children so well as a key worker at Harrison Day Nursery, we are sure Sofia-Anne tells all her angel friends who her mummy is every day.

“We want to show Becky how much she means to us and how much we appreciate everything she had done for our children.

"We now have around 50 children (and their grown-ups) signed up which just shows how much we think of Becky."

It is hoped the cash raised will help build, develop and furnish the Butterfly Suite at Arrowe Park Hospital, a room that parents use when delivering a stillborn baby.

The room will be away from the delivery suite and will be sound proof to ensure families can spend as much time with their baby before saying goodbye.
