A WIRRAL couple who got engaged in a surprise wedding proposal at a packed bingo hall have spoken about their romance for the first time.

Kayleigh Delamare and Aaron Stopp, 30, from Rock Ferry met on a dating website seven months ago  -  and it was love at first sight.

On Thursday night Aaron popped the question at Mecca Bingo, Birkenhead in front of shocked players.

A video of the proposal uploaded on the Mecca Bingo facebook page has amassed more than 106,000 views.

Kayleigh told the Globe: “I wasn’t expecting it at all.

“We go the bingo as often as we can. I work in a care home so I don’t get much time off and I’m always on my feet so when I do get time that’s where I go.

“We spend our time together there a lot.

“Aaron said he’d literally decided that day that he would ask me.

“He went to town and found a ring, without knowing my size. It fits perfectly though.

“We went into the bingo as usual and I felt something was going on but I didn’t know what so I left Aaron to it.

“He had to wait until the changeover for the lady to be able to call him over.

“Once he said, I clicked on to what he was doing but I was just in my own bubble. It’s so surreal.

“We’re planning on getting married next year. It won’t be a big wedding.”

The week has been a special one for Kayleigh who turned 30 yesterday (Sunday) and won more than £200 at the bingo.

She added: “It all feels like a dream and I never thought I would be this happy.

“I’d like to thank everyone at Mecca for allowing this to happen.”
