TWO dogs were rescued by firefighters after a blaze at a flat in Birkenhead.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to the property on Egerton Park at around 3.45pm yesterday (Tuesday) after reports of a kitchen fire.
No-one was injured but firefighters safely removed the dogs from the scene.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a high pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire and they then ventilated the area.
The kitchen and other rooms at the property sustained smoke damage.
Two fire engines attended the incident and remained at the scene for around one hour.
