Wirral's master of horror Ramsey Campbell is returning to Liverpool John Moores University as part of its “In conversation” series.

Interviewed by Andrew McMillan of JMU’s screen school, the university will welcome back the honorary fellow for “an evening to savour the remarkable career of this leading horror writer of our generation."

Born in Liverpool, Ramsey has made his home in the Wallasey area.

As a writer, editor and critic his work spans the last half-century.

He has been widely acknowledged as a leading creative force in horror fiction, winning more awards than any other living author in the genre.

His books have been praised by celebrated writers Stephen King and James Herbert.

In April of 2015 he received his JMU honorary fellowship for his outstanding contribution to literature.

Ramsey said: “Receiving the honorary fellowship was as great an honour as any I’ve had in my entire career and I value it very highly.

“I hope I can pass on some insights and inspiration to their students – 50 years’ worth if I can squeeze them in.”

Andrew said: “It’s a great honour to be able to host this conversation with Ramsey.

"Students and staff will be able to learn from a true master as we look at how he creates his work, what goes into the writing of it and how he’s managed to sustain such a stunning level of success.”

The event will be held on Tuesday, March 7, at 6pm, at the Redmonds Building, Brownlow Hill.
