BEBINGTON has retained its place as the most desirable place to live and work in England.

Royal Mail released an update of its 2015 study to find the most ‘desirable’ places to live across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales based on postcodes – CH63 remaining on top closely followed by NR6 in Norwich.

Experts believe people living in Bebington enjoy the ideal balance of living close to work, having access to good schools and high employment rates.

In Wales the best place to live was Barry in Vale of Glamorgan closely followed by Cardiff Central.

The study, conducted by the Centre of Economics and Business Research, looked back at the past two years and calculated the most desirable areas based on a range of factors including schools, parks and working hours.

By reviewing data from the 2011 Census, the Department for Communities and Local Government’s Indices of Multiple Deprivation, General Land Use database and the Office for National Statistics, the CH63 postcode retained its worthy crown.

Head of Royal Mail’s address management unit Steve Rooney said: “Royal Mail delivers to nearly 30 million addresses across the UK, connecting communities and businesses.

“This new report builds on the study that we commissioned two years ago and provides unique insight into the most desirable places to live and work, through the lens of the postcode.”
