HAVING a puppy brings great joy.

It also brings a depressing awareness of the appalling litter problem in Liscard.

Puppies enjoy trying to eat anything they find while out walking and on the pavements in the town they have a cornucopia of choice with various discarded food containers, plastic bottles and their potentially lethal tops, cans, plastic packaging, etc.

What should be a carefree walk becomes a litter minefield and if concentration slips for a moment then items have to be rapidly fished out the pup’s mouth to avoid injury or harm.

And it is all interspersed with dog excrement for despite council bragging, the problem has not improved one jot.

Author Bill Bryson once described Liverpool as having a festival of litter. He should come to Liscard's carnival of c**p.
