A WIRRAL man is set to complete his sixth challenge this year as he aims to raise vital funds for a charity close to his heart.

Matt Strange, 30 who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when he was just four-weeks-old decided in January he wanted to complete ten challenges to help raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

So far, he has completed the Liverpool Half Marathon, Chain Runner, Port Sunlight 10k, Spring 10k and running up and down Snowdon.

Matt said: “I have always been into my running and have entered events in the past.

“I decided that I wanted to give back to the CF Trust after all of the support that I have had over the years from them “I wanted to push myself to the limits and prove that although I have Cystic Fibrosis that it can't stop me doing anything.

“The toughest challenge that I have taken on so far would have to be running up and down Snowdon, this was definitely the most taxing event that I have put my body through and without doubt the hardest to recover from.”

Matt’s next event will be the Delamere Trail 10k this Sunday.

He will then go on to take part in his last three events; Southport 10k, Aintree 10k and finishing with the Liverpool Santa Dash.

“The hardest part to deal with is when I pick up a cold as this effects my chest and takes me a lot longer to recover from compared to a normal person.

“I just hope by completing these challenges I will raise awareness about the condition and the charity.” He added.

So far, Matt has raised £1,500 against his target of £2,000.
