A WIRRAL grandfather had plenty to celebrate last week as he marked his 100th birthday.
Eric Caton, from Birkenhead celebrated the occasion surrounded by his family and friends at Upton Grange care home.
Until last year, he was living independently until his family felt it was best for him to move into the home.

“He received lots of cards and presents, but one very special card from the Queen.”
Staff from the home started his birthday off with a full English breakfast and decorated the rooms with balloons and banners.
They held a birthday party for him later in the day which included a buffet, cake, champagne and music.
Eric's friends from the home also joined in the celebrations
The D-Day Veteran, doesn’t let his age hold him back and is still able to play the violin, saxophone and clarinet and also enjoys listening to classical and dance music.
He showed off his musical skills during his party.
Eric who has lived in Wirral all of his life was married for 64 years before his wife Edna passed away in 2009.
All of his children joined him at the home for the celebrations.
