TWO brothers from Birkenhead appeared at Wirral Magistrates Court this morning charged with a number of child sexual exploitation offences.

It follows an extensive investigation into child sexual exploitation in Wirral.

Both brothers face 25 charges for the alleged offences carried out between 2010 and 2016.

The alleged nine victims are all aged 17 or younger.

Ilavarasan Rajenthiram, 25, has been charged with four counts of non-penetrative sexual activity with a girl under 16, eight counts of penetrative sexual activity with a girl under 16 and two counts of sexual assault on a female.

Vinothan Rajenthiram, 26, who currently resides in Wigan, has been charged with rape of a female under 16, five counts of penetrative sexual activity with a girl under 16; four counts of non-penetrative sexual activity with a girl under 16 and rape of a woman aged 16 or over.

The alleged offences are believed to have taken place in Birkenhead, Wallasey and Liverpool.

Both men spoke only to confirm their names and addresses to court.

No pleas were entered and magistrates remanded both men in custody.

They will next appear at Liverpool Crown Court in the morning of June 17
