A MERRY band of regulars from a Hoylake pub has formed a choir to perform Christmas carols at care homes in the area.

The band of fledgling choristers from the Plasterers Arms plan to bring some festive cheer to those who may miss out otherwise.

Helen O'Neill, spokesperson for the group, known told the Globe: "It started when we were in the pub in November chatting about Christmas coming up.

"It got round to the fact that some older people can have difficulty in accessing community activities at this time of year, so we decided to take the community to them.

"A small group of us have been meeting up to learn popular Christmas carols and we will be singing to residents of nursing homes in the area.

"The Plazzies is very much at the heart of our town and it was no problem in recruiting the singers.

"None of us are trained so we enlisted the help of local singing legend Larry White to help us with key and tempo.

"We have had a lot of fun rehearsing and have secured several bookings in residential and nursing homes, we hope to get a couple more before Christmas.

"There is no charge obviously but we will have a collecting bucket for Hoylake Lifeboat if any home owners wish to make a contribution."
