FORMER X-Factor star Rhydian Roberts returns to the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton later this week as part of his current tour.

The Welsh Baritone, actor and television presenter will be joined for Friday's show by special guest Lucy Kay, who shot to fame after coming second on last year’s series of Britain's Got Talent and achieving her own Number 1 with the song Official.

Looking forward to getting back to Wirral this week, Rhydian told the Globe: "I was last there about three years ago and stayed at Hillbark Hotel in Frankby.

"I was taken to and from the Floral Pavilion in a pink chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce. Can't see that happening this time, though.

"I'm so delighted that Lucy Kay will be supporting me. What an awesome talent she is. You'll also hear us duet together for the first time ever!

"What's more, in addition to hearing songs from my Number 1 album, you will hear exclusive performances from my brand new album that is being release later in the year."

Rhydian first shot to fame in 2007 as the runner up-on The X-Factor and has gone on to carve out a diverse showbusiness career.

He has established himself as a double platinum recording artist, completing two sell-out tours and more recently starred in national tours of The Rocky Horror Show, Grease and We Will Rock You.

Looking back on his career to-date, he said: "All I ever wanted to do was be a singer and I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to follow my chosen career path.

"It's a dream job and I'm now onto my sixth album.

"I had a recording career from the age of 21, which is something I never imagined.

"I'm pretty versatile in my approach to my career, which is important these days.

"It’s good to have more than one string your bow, but I didn’t imagine my career would be so diverse. For instance, I present my own TV show in Wales."

Casting an ambitious eye to the future, he continued: "I keep working as hard as I can and have got a loyal fanbase, which has stayed with me and grown over the last eight years.

"My career has opened up a lot of doors to me and there's so much more I want to do.

"For example, I want to perform at every single concert hall.

"It's fantastic working on albums of covers, but one of my ambitions as a songwriter is to write an album that defines me."
