WIRRAL line train services suffered severe disruption after flooding caused platform three of Hamilton Square Station to be closed for a short time on Sunday.
Services on the West Kirby and New Brighton lines were disrupted with trains terminating at Birkenhead North, where a replacement bus service was in operation.
Network Rail Engineers were on site by 2pm but disruption continued until 4.30pm.
Merseyrail said the flood was caused by a faulty water pump on platform three.
Chester and Ellesmere Port services were unaffected.
