I WOULD like to comment on your story regarding Clive Creswell and his shooting of a gull.

We have an excellent RSPCA Inspector in our region, we have seen evidence of his good work on recent TV programmes and in recent Globe stories.

As Anthony Joynes states: "This was a deliberate act of cruelty."

To maim any animal so it dies in agony cannot be construed as anything but cruelty.

Mr Creswell's comment "a waste of court time" sounds very similar to what we always hear from those who have been prosecuted for illegal fox-hunting.

His description of gulls as "flying rats" also shows his blatant disregard for nature yet he tells us he "donates to the RSPCA".

Wildlife is here and we share our planet with it, those who cause suffering to another species deserve to be punished so well done RSPCA, as for Mr Creswell, why on earth would he live in a seaside resort if he does not like seagulls?
