JUST read your piece in the Globe about the new anti litter campaign, my first comment is “brilliant” followed by “about time.”

Lastly, is this another council flash in the pan?

Whether in industry or public places if littering, graffiti and general untidiness is allowed to become the norm as it seems to be in some areas recovery is painful and the financial cost becomes many times greater than if the controlling authority had done their job properly in the first place.

I hope that following your article you will be inundated with readers asking, what about this or that place to look at.

Well here is another one; Lingham Park in Moreton is a very nice open space for all especially in the football season, which is also the time when litter is strewn around the edges of the pitches with no effort by anyone to do anything about it.

To make matters even worse the wind blows it all over and then the grass cutting crews arrive and chop it all up and spread even more.

The football season is finite so are match days and times so you would think it would be easy to police even with Community Support Officers occasionally present but it all goes unseen.

This is one area that it is the norm.

A challenge to you, what are you going to do to keep this critical subject alive and reported on with the same focus.
