THE line-up for Wirral's fourth Astral Coast music and arts festival has been revealed.

Cavalary, She Drew The Gun, Shellsuit Marvin Powell, Blue Saint and Clever Little Tramps are among acts featuring in the showcase of emerging talent at Marine Point in New Brighton, which takes place a week on Saturday, July 11.

Also performing will be News From Neptune, Lucy Mayhew, James Forshaw, Jimmy Jones, Mark Stedmond, Michael Bennett, Emilio Pinchi and Mercury 13.

Hundreds of people are expected to turn out for day of music, arts and topical discussion which celebrates the best in emerging new talent. As well as music, there will also be art exhibitions, interactive stalls.

The event is organised by Wallasey-based The Open Door Centre, which raises awareness of depression, anxiety and mental Health through of music, the arts and creativity. It has quickly established itself as the premiere new music festival on Wirral.

It is co-ordinated by Creative Roots CIC, Arts and Minds, which promotes the positive role that creativity can play in maintaining our Health and Wellbeing via music, special one off artistic commissions, performances, poetry readings, interactive stalls, taster sessions, visual arts, crafts and photography.

Lee Pennington, director of The Open Door Centre, said: "Everybody connected with the centre is hugely excited about this year's festival.

"We feel that to make the festival more public facing, increasing the reach of our positive message, linking in with the hugely talented team at Arts and Minds whilst still championing the very best new music around is a massive moment in the growth of the festival.

"Astral Coast remains and unrivalled highlight of Wirral’s summer.”

Exhibits on the day include The Big House Arts Program, a unique collection of photography work by prisoners at Walton Prison. It is designed to give prisoners the chance to explore their creativity and work together as part of their education and rehabilitation scheme.

Budding performers can also have a go at Hope Place Open Mic, which gives you the chance to share music, poetry, stand-up, stories and experiences.

Time to Shine Stage hosted by Crass Routes. A fun, accessible inclusive open mic performance space for musicians, poets, story tellers and performing artists.

Liverpool Live TV will bring their fantastic Red Sofa Sessions to Astral Coast, featuring special acoustic performances from local musicians. Each session will be recorded for future broadcast on LLTV.

SORA West African Drumming Performance Band will be performing and running a free interactive workshop, building on foundation and research into the benefits of drumming on mental and general health.

Vox at The Light Community Choir will be both performing and also inviting the community to take part.

The first ever Astral Coast Chess Olympiad will also take place, led by Jimmy Jones and Mike Rowan.

And the Singing Café will be leading a communal sing song over lunch.

The festival starts at 11am.
