WIRRAL band Sons of Mowgli are set to release their debut album later this week.

We had a time - due out on Friday - is described by the group's guitarist Marc Price as an album of 'music stripped to its acoustic roots."

It features ten tracks of music influenced by the likes of American acoustic guitar-based songwriting greats Simon & Garfunkel and the late Nick Drake.

The album was produced by Steve Atkinson and will be released through his Hoylake-based Ako-records. It will be available from Friday (May 22) on iTunes, Amazon and CdBaby.

Sons of Mowgli formed two years ago and have been hard at work putting the album together.

The features brothers Marc and Chris Price, Emily Hughes, Barry O'Neill and Dean McShane.

Marc told the Globe: "It started off with just me and Dean getting together to write songs in our living room and progressed from there.

"It's turned out really well.

"We are going to start gigging when the new album comes out and see what happens."

Marc and brother ChrIs were members of Wirral band Mowgli, which was disbanded four years ago.

Looking to the future Marc continued: "With Mowgli it was very much a case of us wanting and having to get signed.

"With the new band we're just playing it all by ear and will see where it leads. We're having a bit of fun with the group at the moment.

"If we were to get signed, then great, but it's not the absolute aim."
