ON April 13 at 4.30pm while walking with my wife along the promenade between Seacombe and Egremont, I saw a gentleman (loose sense of the word) standing by a lifebelt near The Ferry public house, then run off with something in his hand up Sandon Road.
On reaching the lifebelt it became clear he had cut off the rope that is used for pulling the lifebelt ashore for rescue purposes.
This person was not a teenager but was about 20 to 30 years of age.
Did he not realise that he was committing a life or death vandalism?
This has been reported to the authorities and I only hope that the CCTV has captured his actions and is plastered across all the local newspapers.
Name and address supplied.
