A WIRRAL man has been found guilty of fly-tipping offences.

Paul Tyson, of Buchanan Road, Wallasey, appeared at Birkenhead Magistrates Court last week on two counts of illegal fly-tipping.

The court heard that Tyson was caught by Wirral Council officers on CCTV camera dumping rubbish on Old Gorsey Lane, Wallasey, on two separate occasions in September, 2006.

Tyson admitted both charges, but told the court that not all the rubbish found at the site was his.

He was fined £250 on each charge and was ordered to pay £430 costs. David Green, Wirral's director of technical services, said: "Wirral takes fly tipping extremely seriously and will not hesitate to prosecute in cases such as this which can result in a court case and hefty fine.

"Our enforcement officers are working hard to protect our environment and prevent people from committing these offences. There is no excuse - Wirral is well served with waste reception centres around the borough and there is the free ERIC service if people need to dispose of large objects."
