SERVICES at Arrowe Park Hospital are back to normal tonight after a power cut earlier today.

Ambulances had been diverted to other hospitals and operations were suspended as engineers worked to restore power. The problem was reported at 8.30am.

Power has now been fully restored.

In a statement this evening Wirral University Teaching Hospital Trust said: "The problem has been rectified and the hospital is now operating as normal including all schedule operations, clinics, outpatient appointments and visiting.

"The care of patients in the hospital was not affected.

"We have emergency plans for this type of situation which were implemented and worked extremely well.

"We would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding but give a reminder that our Accident and Emergency department is for serious life threatening conditions only".
