MERSEYSIDE Police have confirmed that the body found on land off Leasowe Road on Wednesday afternoon is that of missing 46-year-old Derek Jones.
Detectives trying to trace Mr Jones, from Leasowe, discovered the body close to Leasowe Golf Club.
Formal identification has now taken place.
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course to establish the cause of his death.
Mr Jones was last seen leaving his home in Leasowe at around 1.40pm on Thursday, January 8.
