A WIRRAL blogger who champions the curvaceous female form has been flying the “plus size” flag as part of a viral fashion event.

Plus size clothing brand Scarlett & Jo caused a viral explosion last weekend when they decided to host a cupcake party at Home House in London, while doing a fashion shoot in real.

West Kirby businesswoman Betty Pamper, whose blog “Pamper and Curves” won the Best British Blog Award in 2014, was asked to take part in the event, modelling a number of dresses designed just for her by designer Gifi Fields – the man famous for inventing the rah-rah skirt.

At 43, Betty was the oldest model there, flying the flag for middle aged mums who refuse to hide quietly in the corner.

She said: “Gifi Fields, the designer at Scarlett and Jo, knew of my blog and loved my style. He approached me saying he wanted to design some dresses using me as his muse and who was I to say no.”

Betty described the experience as a “dream come true”, adding: “As a plus size fashion blogger I like to think I fly the flag not just for curvy women - showing them that regardless of size and shape you can still look beautiful and stylish - but as a 43-year-old mum, I’m proud to be representing ladies in their forties who are so often told they should be dressing in something beige from Asda.”

Her photos – which will be used as part of the brand’s new season look-book – created a viral sensation when they were shared across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter during the photoshoot.

She added: “I was shown the dresses Gifi had designed for me and although I had seen sketches, nothing prepared me for how beautiful they were in the flesh - they are just gorgeous. The designs go on sale in Evans stores in a few weeks time.”

Betty writes her daily blog on fashion and make-up for curvy ladies, as well as working as a make-up artist at her Vintage Pamperbox salon in West Kirby.

The last six months have been an incredible whirlwind for Betty, who has featured in a number of magazines – including Vintage Life – and has modelled for Simply Be, Yours Clothing and Evans.

Betty said: “It was amazing spending the day with the other bloggers who are all equally stylish and sassy, it goes to show that your dress size doesn't have to determine how lovely you look and more importantly how wonderful you feel, I certainly felt amazing.

“Life just doesn't get better than this - it certainly has started at 40.”
