A WOMAN and her child were threatened with a man wielding a meat cleaver after he forced his way into their home in Ellesmere Port.

The 28-year-old was at home with her young daughter at around 2pm yesterday, Thursday, when a man knocked on the door.

He forced his way into the property in Brancepeth Court and demanded cash while brandishing the weapon.

There was no cash at the property, with the man instead taking a games console, mobile phone and tablet device before leaving.

The woman was uninjured but left shaken following the ordeal.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said it is believed to be an isolated incident.

The man is described as being white, around 5ft 11ins tall, of medium build and around 30-years-old.

He had brown eyes, dark eyebrows and was unshaven.

He wore a dark woolly hat, grey tracksuit top, blue jeans and dark trainers. He was also wearing dark woollen gloves and left carrying the scene with an Aldi carrier bag containing the stolen devices.
