THE organisers of this year’s Wirral Race For Life are urging more women to sign up for the Globe-backed fundraiser.
So far, 2,270 have registered to take part in the event, taking place in Birkenhead Park on Sunday, July 27. Proceeds will help fund life-saving work of Cancer Research UK.
There are just over three weeks to go until the big day and organisers hope 3,600 women will take part, help raise £350,000. So far, 2050 have done so. The Globe has been Race For Life’s official newspaper since 2006.
Jennifer Ward, northwest event manager for Cancer Research UK, said: “I want to say a big thanks to everyone who has signed up to take part in this year’s event. It means a lot to us and will help to fund the vital research into this terrible disease.
We still have a lot of places left to fill, so we are urging women to sign up as soon as possible.
“By raising money through Race for Life, people in the North West are helping Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists make advances in research which will help more men, women and children survive.”
