A dog-owner agreed to have his animal put down after it attacked another dog in the street.
Police were called to the incident in New Ferry at around 10.40am today after a bull terrier-type dog attacked a black schipperke on Henthorne Road.
The owner of the terrier intervened and was bitten on the arm by his own animal, which was seized.
The injuries to the owner and schipperke were said to have been minor.
A police spokesman said the owner of the 'aggressive' dog agreed for it to be humanely destroyed.
